The four seasons

According to the climate source, the south coast has a long dry season from December to April (hot, with a few showers), a long rainy season from May to July, a short dry season in August and September and a short rainy season in October and November. Humidity is high, between 80 and 90 %.

Reading the table

The monthly figures are those of Abidjan, 80 to 94 km west of Assinie, so treat them as an indication. The source does not give a reference period. Annual rainfall is 1,973 mm in the table, which matches the sum of the months, while the text of the same source says 1,766 mm. June is by far the wettest month (607 mm) and August the driest in the rainy half of the year (32 mm), which fits the short dry season.

What it means for a beach trip

The dry months are the safest choice: December to April, then August and September. We removed the sunshine hours, sea temperatures and "advice" ratings that this page carried before: they had no source. For swimming conditions, see our beaches page.
