How to Get to Assinie?

By road from Abidjan

Assinie-Mafia is reached by road A100 going east from Abidjan, then by turning onto the B-107 and following the road to Assinie-Mafia along the coast. The road ends at Assinie-Mafia. Distances differ between sources: 80 km according to English Wikipedia, 94 km according to the French entry, and 85 km according to a travel operator. The page we relied on gives no driving time, so check a live map for your departure time: traffic out of Abidjan is the main unknown.

To the peninsula: car, private boat or pirogue

The western part of the municipality, bordered by the ocean alone, is reached by road. The eastern part is a peninsula about 15 km long, between the ocean and the Aby lagoon, and it is reached by car, by private boat or by pirogue across the lagoon. At its far end, where the lagoon meets the sea, lies La Passe, with no restaurant or hotel.

What we could not confirm

We found no reliable source for shared-taxi or minibus fares and travel times between Abidjan and Assinie, nor for a scheduled pirogue service from Abidjan. Rather than publish figures we cannot back, we leave them out: ask your accommodation or the drivers at the Abidjan bus stations (Adjamé, Abobo, Port-Bouët) for the current fare and route. We also could not confirm the state of the road surface or the fuel stations along the way.

Flights to Abidjan

Félix Houphouët-Boigny airport (ABJ) is Abidjan's main international airport. Flight comparators list a direct Paris to Abidjan flight of about 6 hours 35 minutes (Air France among the operators) and a direct Casablanca to Abidjan flight of about 4 hours 30 (Air Côte d'Ivoire and Royal Air Maroc). Air Côte d'Ivoire planned four weekly flights on that route from May 2024. These are indicative figures: check the airlines for current schedules. A Brussels to Abidjan trip is listed at about 11 hours, which suggests a connection rather than a direct flight.
